Cafe Moose Brings Exotic a.m. Delights to Ballard
"If you want a special joy, wiping up the remnants of your breakfast with a piece of sausage delivers a most satisfying conclusion, with each spice of the sausage intermingling with the sweetness of the cilantro or the saltiness of the cotija cheese.
As we left Cafe Moose, I couldn't help but note how simple it all was; yet it was still the best breakfast I have had in some time. All it took was good ingredients, respect for the recipes, regard for the customer, and a little risk."

"Balmert swears by the authentic regional Mexican food at Senor Moose Cafe (5242 Leary Avenue; 206-784-5568; entrees $10 to $15), in the stylish neighborhood of Ballard. "It's completely unchic," he warns of the kitschy décor. At brunch he always orders the poached eggs in tomato broth."

Señor Moose featured on KOMO Radio Go Eat!
"Kathleen Andersen came to Ballard after 20 years in Mexico and, thank heavens, she brought her recipes with her. In this vibrant pink-hued spot enjoy fiery breakfasts like chilaquiles or sopes and eggs, along with terrific Mexican-grown coffee and crayons to occupy the kids. There’s gringo food too—this is Ballard, after all—so the tenderfoots can dive into big three-egg scrambles with homefries or burgers or salads for lunch. "

Delectable "desayunos" at colorful Ballard cafe
"Along the light-industrial strip where Leary rolls into Ballard is Café Moose, a charming and down-to-earth breakfast/lunch stop whose pink-hued walls and bright art evoke all the vibrancy of Mexico.
Happily, so does the food. Seattle has lots of breakfast joints, a burgeoning subset of which do Mexican "desayunos" — Easy Street Café in West Seattle and Baja Bistro on Beacon Hill, to name two notables — but Café Moose, which has been quietly gaining under-the-radar appreciation since October, is already peer to the best of them."

"Holy Guacamole! It's not your typical border food at this hip Central Mexican café on Ballard’s Leary Avenue, where the inexpensive homestyle cooking consists of fresh local ingredients and incendiary salsa. Dinners are just as good as the buzzed about breakfasts."
